ORIGIN OF OBEDIENCE
Obedience was born in August 2016 when Demi Irawo received multiple prophetic words to start a Christian fellowship group. Obedience started as a small group with Demi and his friends and the group grew as they invited their friends to join.
VISION OF OBEDIENCE
The vision of Obedience can be summarised as ‘Find God, Know God, Love God’.
Find God
We want to see a resurgence of Christianity in the world and we believe that this ministry is well placed to help realise this change. In the coming years we aim to bring thousands of people to the saving knowledge of God through Jesus Christ, across the globe through our evangelistic outreach efforts. Our strategy employs various means including street evangelism, digital evangelism and community outreach.
Know God
We aim to provide people with the resources they need to live a fulfilling Christian life. We have a department within Obedience called W.O.R.D. which is a training and research organisation which offers a range of courses designed to further Christian formation including a year-long program in Systematic Theology. Given the rampant false teaching we see in Christianity today, we are passionate about equipping believers so that they can rightly understand and correctly live out the Christian faith.
Love God
We believe that community is at the heart of living a Godly life. We have worked diligently over the years to build a loving community which provides encouragement, friendship and accountability. We’ve received many testimonies of people growing in their love, adoration and obedience to God as they’ve connected with the Obedience community.
STATEMENT OF CORE BELIEFS
1. God
We believe there is one God, who exists eternally in three distinct but equal persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is unchangeable in his holiness, justice, wisdom and love. He is the almighty Creator; Saviour and Judge who sustains and governs all things according to his sovereign will for his own glory.
2. The Bible
We believe God has revealed himself in the Bible, which consists of the Old and New Testaments alone. Every word was inspired by God through human authors, so that the Bible as originally given is in its entirety the Word of God, without error and fully reliable in fact and doctrine. The Bible alone speaks with final authority and is always sufficient for all matters of belief and practice.
3. The Human Race
We believe all men and women, being created in the image of God, have inherent and equal dignity and worth. Their greatest purpose is to obey, worship and love God. As a result of the fall of our first parents, every aspect of human nature has been corrupted and all men and women are without spiritual life, guilty sinners and hostile to God. Every person is therefore under the just condemnation of God and needs to be born again, forgiven and reconciled to God in order to know and please him.
4. The Lord Jesus Christ
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is truly God and truly man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, and lived a sinless life in obedience to the Father. He taught with authority and all his words are true. On the cross he died in the place of sinners, bearing God’s punishment for their sin, redeeming them by his blood. He rose from the dead and in his resurrection body ascended into heaven where he is exalted as Lord of all. He intercedes for his people in the presence of the Father.
5. Salvation
We believe salvation is entirely a work of God’s grace and cannot be earned or deserved. It has been accomplished by the Lord Jesus Christ and is offered to all in the gospel. God in his love forgives sinners whom he calls, granting them repentance and faith. All who believe in Christ are justified in the sight of God on account of the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ which is received by faith alone, adopted into the family of God and receive eternal life.
6. The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit has been sent from heaven to glorify Christ and to apply his work of salvation. He convicts sinners, imparts spiritual life and gives a true understanding of the Scriptures. He indwells all believers, brings assurance of salvation and produces increasing likeness to Christ. He builds up the Church and empowers its members for worship, service and mission.
7. The Church
We believe the universal Church is the body of which Christ is the head and to which all who are saved belong. It is made visible in local churches, which are congregations of believers who are committed to each other for the worship of God, the preaching of the Word, the administering of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper; for pastoral care and discipline, and for evangelism. The unity of the body of Christ is expressed within and between churches by mutual love, care and encouragement. True fellowship between churches exists only where they are faithful to the gospel. In no way do we intend to replace the local church but rather we serve to aid her in her mission.
8. The Future
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ will return in glory. He will raise the dead and judge the world in righteousness. The wicked will be sent to eternal punishment and the righteous will be welcomed into a life of eternal joy in fellowship with God. God will make all things new and will be glorified forever.
We are also in agreement with the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Westminster Larger Catechisms and the Westminster Shorter Catechisms.
PRAYER
We are passionate about prayer and believe it is the lifeblood of the ministry. We pray together on a weekly basis using conference calling technology, often multiple times a week. Please check our events page for up to date information on upcoming prayer calls.
EVENTS
Obedience hosts regular events, retreats, and socials. Please check our events page for up to date information on our upcoming events. Our events are open to both Obedience and non-Obedience members.

Being a part of a Christian community that encourages you to go deeper in the word of God, difficult topics in Christianity and meet other Christians has really blessed me. I’ve met some amazing people who have had such a positive impact on my life, and I look forward to seeing where God will take Obedience.
I went through a lot of depression and was very suicidal for the last few months but God put people from Obedience in my life to pray for me. My relationship with God sky-rocketed because I was surrounded by other Christians who were on fire for God. Quite frankly, Obedience has changed my life and I’m forever grateful that you guys found me when you did.
Obedience has had such an impact on my walk with God; from the prayer calls to discussions on the group chat which challenged my understanding of the word of God and caused me to delve depper in to the word for myself. The Bible studies have also been very edifying. I struggled to find friends until I found Obedience. What a blessing!
